Jordan Spieth denies rumors he’d leave PGA Tour: ‘I am NOT in discussions with LIV’

A number of top names in the world have made the jump from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf.

Jordan Spieth remains adamant that he will not be one of them.

“Because of the false reporting today, I feel the need to comment,” Spieth wrote in a tweet Friday afternoon.

“Let me be clear, any reports that I am contemplating competing anywhere other than the PGA Tour are categorically untrue. I am NOT in discussions with LIV. I have been quoted on the record for months that I fully support the PGA Tour and have never considered any alternatives. My goal has not changed since I began playing golf — to win PGA Tour events and major Championships, and to compete against the best players in the world. Those who truly know me, know what is most important to me.”

The statement from the former Texas Longhorn came after Golf Monthly reported that some players could make a move to LIV Golf after The Open Championship concludes next week.

Spieth’s agent Jay Danzi also released a statement denying the report.

“Jordan is not in discussions with LIV and is fully supportive of and happy on the PGA Tour,” Danzi told Golf Monthly.

Fellow Dallas-area golfer Bryson DeChambeau is among the former PGA Tour stars who have defected to the well-funded, Saudi-backed LIV brand. Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed are some of the others.

Spieth is currently overseas in Scotland participating in the Scottish Open in preparation for golf’s next major.

On Friday, he went 2-over during his second round at The Renaissance Club to return to even par, and will enter the weekend in a tie for 20th place.
