Jordan’s King Abdullah II has reiterated his opposition to any plans that involve displacing Palestinians from Gaza or the occupied West Bank. This comes in response to United States President Donald Trump's recent announcement of intentions to relocate residents of Gaza and assume control of the strip.
Trump's proposal includes relocating Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, both of which are key US allies in the Middle East.
Following a meeting between King Abdullah and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, a statement released by Jordan’s state news agency emphasized the King's stance on stopping Jewish settlement activities, rejecting land annexation, and preventing the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. The statement also stressed the importance of establishing Palestinians on their own land.

Last week, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab allies reaffirmed their support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They pledged continued backing for the Palestinian people's resilience on their territory.
Trump expressed his desire for Jordan to take on a larger role, citing the dire situation in the Gaza Strip. The King is set to meet with Trump at the White House on February 11.
