Jordan Pickford gives three-word verdict on Everton saves and reveals Frank Lampard's team talk

Jordan Pickford has reflected on the double save he made during Everton’s win over Chelsea.

The Blues claimed a 1-0 victory in the Premier League over Chelsea, thanks to a second half goal from Richarlison. The Brazilian capitalised on a mistake from Cesar Azpilicueta to put the home side in front at Goodison Park.

With the game in the balance, Chelsea pushed for an equaliser and forced Pickford to make a double save off the goal line. The first save came from Azpilicueta, before a few minutes later the England international denied Antonio Rudiger.

RATINGS: Jordan Pickford sensational and Richarlison great vs Chelsea

Speaking after the game, Pickford says that he ‘had worse’, referring to the second save which hit him in the face. The stopper then reserved praise for the Everton fans for their support during the game.

“I’ve had worse,” Pickford told Sky Sports. “That’s what I’m there for, to make saves for the team.

“It’s a team effort and at the end of the day, it's all about getting three points.

“I really enjoyed it, but that’s what I’m there to do - help the team.

“Everyone helps each other, it’s about enjoying that today but not getting carried away.

“We’ve got to refocus for next week, just keep fighting. The fans played a massive part, so it’s about us going again.”

Pickford was then asked about Richarlison’s goal, and the goalkeeper then revealed what manager Frank Lampard said in his half-time team talk. The Blues went into the interval goalless, and the striker from the Brazilian came within the first minute of the restart.

Pickford added: “The manager spoke at half time and he said to Richarlison ‘keep doing that and working hard, and your chance will come’, and it did in the first minute after half time.”
