Jordan Love leads go-ahead TD drive, Packers defense slams door shut in 23-20 win over Chargers

Quarterback Jordan Love led a pair of go-ahead touchdown drives in the second half and the Green Bay Packers defense stopped Justin Herbert on back-to-back drives to finish off a thrilling 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Love hit Christian Watson for a 11-yard touchdown on the final play of the third quarter to give the Packers a 16-13 lead and then found Romeo Doubs for a 24-yard touchdown with 2:33 left in the fourth quarter, and the Packers defense forced a punt and a turnover on downs after taking a 23-20 lead late.

Love completed 27 of 40 passes for 322 yards, two touchdown passes and zero interceptions. He hit 10 different receivers and produced five completions of 20 or more yards. Love’s 300-yard passing game — the first of his career — was the Packers’ first since Dec. of 2021.

The Packers also scored 23 points, the first time scoring more than 20 since Week 2.

Although the Chargers finished with almost 400 total yards, the Packers did force a turnover inside the 10-yard line and held the Chargers to just one touchdown on four trips inside the red zone.

The Packers finished with more first downs, more total yards, more time of possession and fewer turnovers.

The 23-20 win improves the Packers’ record to 4-6 overall and 3-2 at home.

The Packers were previously 0-4 when giving up a second-half lead in 2023. On Sunday, Love provided a scoring response and the defense did the rest in an upset win.

Up next? A short week and a trip to Detroit to play the division-leading Lions on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field.
