FA chiefs are set to talk to Jordan Henderson and Gabriel as they investigate the Emirates bust-up.
The Football Association have confirmed they are looking into the incident and are likely to talk to all players who may have witnessed the incident. Referee Michael Oliver asked to speak to the pair to get their version of events after the game and has now sent his report to the Football Association.
They will now look into the issue further before deciding if there is a case to push further after the incident in the dying stages of Arsenal ’s dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday. There have even been suggestions a lip reader could be used.
It is understood that Arsenal defender Gabriel has complained he heard something on the pitch which preempted an angry confrontation with Liverpool captain Henderson. The row came soon after the controversial penalty award in Arsenal’s favour after Liverpool midfielder Thiago’s challenge on Gunners forward Gabriel Jesus.
Tempers spilled over and there was a melee involving both sets of players soon after which is when Gabriel insists he heard something was said. Referee Oliver went over to the touchline and spoke to both managers Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp to tell them a complaint had been made.
Witnesses said afterwards the situation had calmed down in the tunnel area but both players being called to effectively give evidence to the referee means that Oliver will now refer what the players said to the FA as part of their potential investigation.
Liverpool captain Henderson was due to do post-match interviews after the game but was taken off his duties amid the storm.

However, it is still not clear whether the FA will take the matter further especially as Arsenal boss Arteta did seem to suggest that anything said on the pitch “should stay on the pitch.”
Both players are believed to have given their side to Oliver in the referees’ room. Oliver also spoke to both managers again after the game. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp refused to speak about the incident afterwards and all parties have refused to comment further.
The FA are now looking at the incident and have said they will “review the details” - which include Oliver’s report - before deciding whether to pursue it any further.
But Henderson will clearly be hoping the matter is resolved quickly as he is such a leading figure for both club and country.
