Jordan Henderson and Gabriel 'present cases' as FA review Arsenal complaint from Liverpool game

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Arsenal defender Gabriel have reportedly provided statements to referee Michael Oliver following their altercation during Sunday's Premier League meeting at the Emirates Stadium.

A flash point between the pair occurred following Michael Oliver's decision to award Arsenal a penalty, having seen Gabriel Jesus go down inside the area under the challenge of Thiago Alcantara. Players from both sides could be seen attempting to diffuse the situation as the pair exchanged words at close proximity, resulting in Oliver then going over to the touchline to address Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp.

The Mirror have claimed Gabriel issued a complaint over something he heard and that both Henderson and the Brazilian defender shared their 'version of events' to Oliver after the full-time whistle. The report adds Oliver also held further conversations with Arteta and Klopp before sending his report to the Football Association as they continue their investigation in relation to this matter.

A separate article by the Times has stated the FA is 'expected to interview all players involved in the flare-up', which could see Alisson Becker, Granit Xhaka and Roberto Firmino called forward to provide their account of the incident.

The FA yesterday confirmed in a statement they would assess the information at their disposal before deciding whether to take further action, stating : "We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident."
