Jordan Davis says he models his game after this Jags legend

One of the most interesting prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft is Georgia’s Jordan Davis, who was a key part of the team’s national championship success this past season. After dominating in the trenches for the Bulldogs and accumulating 90 total career tackles (11.5 of which were for loss) and seven career sacks, Davis is expected to be a first-round pick, and many like his chances to repeat his success in the NFL.

With the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine starting this week, Davis spoke with the media Friday and was asked who he models his game after. He replied by singling out former Jags defensive tackle John Henderson, who Davis has a similar build to at 6-foot-6, 340 pounds.

“One person that I really honed in was John Henderson from the Jacksonville Jaguars,” Davis said. “Very old name and not a lot of kids say that nowadays, but he’s just one of those guys when I first started watching football that I was drawn to. He’s one of those guys that I studied. We’re compatible in star and size. In my eyes, he’s one of the greats.”

Henderson, who was 6-foot7, 335 pounds, is one of the most dominant players to wear black and teal and was part of a dynamic duo with Marcus Stroud. After being drafted by the team in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft, Henderson spent eight seasons in Duval, went to two Pro Bowls, and accumulated a total of 492 career tackles.

Unfortunately, Jaguars fans probably won’t get a chance to see if Davis could be Henderson 2.0 in Duval due to the team having other needs and being in the front of the draft order. However, a team picking from 20-32 could get a really good player just as long as the right resources remain around him.
