Jordan and Egypt have reaffirmed their longstanding positions regarding the acceptance of displaced Palestinians in response to US President Donald Trump's recent proposal. Trump's plan involves Jordan and Egypt taking in millions of new Palestinian refugees as part of a larger initiative to redevelop Gaza.
During a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Trump reiterated his vision of transforming Gaza into a 'Riviera of the Middle East.' However, both Jordan and Egypt have firmly rejected the idea of accepting more refugees due to their existing refugee populations and concerns about stability and security.
Jordan, which already hosts over 700,000 refugees from neighboring countries and 2.4 million registered Palestinian refugees, emphasized that solving the Palestinian issue should occur within Palestine itself. The country's foreign minister highlighted the demographic implications of accepting additional refugees and stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of the conflict.

Egypt, on the other hand, announced its intention to present a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza while ensuring that Palestinians remain in their homeland. The Egyptian foreign ministry emphasized the need to end Israel's occupation of Palestinian land and implement a two-state solution for long-term stability in the region.
Both countries underscored the importance of addressing the core issues of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and expressed readiness to work with other Arab nations on alternative proposals. Saudi Arabia's crown prince is reportedly planning discussions on a new plan for the region.
In conclusion, Jordan and Egypt's firm stance against Trump's proposal reflects their commitment to finding a sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue while prioritizing stability, security, and the rights of the Palestinian people.
