Jonnie Irwin speaks out on 'cruel blow' in terminal cancer treatment in new health update

Jonnie Irwin has opened up about a particularly cruel aspect with regards to his terminal cancer battle, in a tragic new health update. The 49-year-old former A Place in the Sun presenter was initially diagnosed with un-curable cancer back in August 2020, after seeking medical advice when his vision became blurred.

He recently shared how he sought overseas treatment for his lung cancer which spread to his brain, but a medical procedure has reportedly caused irreversible damage to his liver. Speaking in a brand-new interview with HELLO! magazine, Jonnie has detailed the recent trip to Turkey and subsequent damage suffered.

He said: "It’s blocked in a place they can’t operate on, so there’s no point fighting the cancer elsewhere if the liver’s not working. It’s a cruel blow."

The Mirror reports that discussing his death, the dad-of-three added: "It can happen at any time. I’m here to stop it for as long as possible," reflecting on how long he has left to live. Upon his initial diagnosis back in 2020, Jonnie was told it was a matter of six months - however, he's still fighting back almost three years on now.

The Newcastle-based property guru also went on to say how he is currently 'in pain' through the disease, confessing he's 'not good to be around when I'm in pain'. Jonnie decided to go public with the distressing news of his terminal cancer at the end of last year.

He shares his three children in Rex, three, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two, with wife Jessica - who he married in September 2016. In the very same Hello! interview of late, he revealed that he sill hasn't told his youngsters of his diagnosis, as he prepares for his potentially final Father's Day with his family.

He said: "I want them to have the confidence of a public school boy, but also be streetwise lads - they're happy kids, they laugh, and are a lot of fun to have around. I keep being asked, 'Are you going to tell them?' but tell them what? It would be horrible news that they'd have to get their heads around.

"And it would confuse the hell out of Rex – he's got a shocking enough day coming. Let's bury our heads in the sand for as long as possible."
