Jonnie Irwin shares wish as he spends time with his family

Jonnie Irwin spent some well-deserved alone time with his family in the Lake District.

The 48-year-old revealed last year that he has lung cancer which has spread to his brain. Since his diagnosis, he has been spending more time than ever with his family after declaring he wanted to be "realistic" with the time he still had left.

The presenter recently set off for the Lake District with his wife Jessica, who he shares three sons with - Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cromac - along with the family dog which warranted several snaps on Instagram.

The caption said: "Today out in the fresh air was what we all needed." Jonnie admitted there was one area he would've loved to visit on his trip but still spending time with everyone made him happy regardless.

He added: "How I’d love to be up on those fells but staying low around the waterfalls with the family was wonderful in a different way. #thelakes."

The range of photos saw the family huddled together in puffer jackets and hats to combat the ice-cold weather. Jonnie and Jessica made sure to sneak in two personal photos together as they smiled at the camera while sharing a kiss.

Jonnie's followers complimented his family as they gushed over their adventure and how beautiful they all looked together. One fan said: "Such a lovely thing to do and an amazing place to spend time with your family. You're an inspiration to us all J. Keep doing these little things to create such personal memories."
