Jonnie Irwin reunited with Place in the Sun team for special appearance

Jonnie Irwin has made a special appearance as he returned to work on A Place in the Sun. The 49-year-old, who presents Channel 4’s A Place In The Sun and the BBC’s Escape To The Country, said last November he told Hello! he not know “how much time I have left” after his lung cancer spread to his brain.

The presenters of the Channel 4 property show were on tour as they travelled to Manchester to work on A Place in the Sun Live. Jasmine Harman joined Jonnie on Sunday, reports The Echo.

Jonnie, 49, shared a picture of himself and Jasmine on stage at the property exhibition to his Instagram account. The dad-of-three said: "Selecting wardrobe for @aplaceinthesunofficial LIVE Tomorrow in Manchester. It’s an early start and as I’m not fit enough to run for the train atm I’m prepping the night before."

He added: "My wife can’t quite believe it! Cold weather calls for wool, wool, and more wool. It’s also a rare thing for @jasmineharman and myself to both be there on a Sunday so please come along and we’ll hopefully see you there. @mcr_central."

The Channel 4 presenter was given six months to live in 2020. He revealed the first warning sign of his illness came while he was filming A Place In The Sun in August 2020 in Italy, when his vision became blurry while driving.

The broadcaster shares three-year-old son Rex and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica.

Speaking to a national newspaper he said: “Every time something really nice happens with them, I have this thing knocking at my door, saying, ‘Don’t get too happy because you’re not going to be around much longer’.

“Then I think they’re not going to remember me, they’re really not.

“They’re too young and if I die this year there’s no chance they will have memories.”

He added: “Someone else is probably going to bring them up. I’ve done the hard yards with them and someone else will get the easy bit.”

Irwin previously told Hello! magazine that he hoped sharing his diagnosis would inspire others to “make the most of every day”, and encouraged people to take out life insurance.

He said he had chosen to keep his illness private at first.
