Jonnie Irwin is hopeful he will make a return to A Place in the Sun as he issued a hospital update to his many fans.
The 49-year-old has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, after doctors revealed his lung cancer had sadly spread to his brain. Since going public with his diagnosis back in November, Jonnie has been trying to raise awareness and encourage others to "make the most of every day".
Speaking to the OneChat podcast, Jonnie said he initially kept his diagnosis secret as he "had to pay the bills". However, in the candid interview, the dad-of-three also claimed he had been "thrown on the scrapheap" after revealing his illness.

He added: "They recruited within a week and then I saw someone else doing my job.”
Last year, a spokesperson for Freeform Productions said: "Jonnie has been a hugely important part of the A Place in The Sun family for over 18 years and all of us were deeply saddened by his diagnosis.
"Much loved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during covid but the production company were unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him."
They added: "Whilst we were unable to continue to film abroad with him, we're delighted that he was able to remain as part of our team in the UK for exhibitions. We of course understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time."
However Jonnie has now said he has his "fingers crossed" he can make a one-off return to A Place in the Sun as the Channel 4 property show goes on tour this weekend. A special event will see fans able to meet the presenters, including Jasmine Harman and Laura Hamilton.
Sharing an update on Instagram on Wednesday, Jonnie said: "In hospital this week monitoring a changeover in my pain management regime. Fingers crossed I’ll be out in time to make an appearance on Sunday for this weekend's @aplaceinthesunofficial LIVE event at @olympialondon in Kensington.
"It’s packed with presenters from Friday including @jasmineharman @benhillmantv @laurahamiltontv @benhillmantv. Tickets info in bio and below. Hope to see you there…x."
Fans were quick to wish Jonnie well in the comments section. Pamela said: "Hope that works for you Jonnie and brings some improvements."
Daimon said: "Hope it all goes well. Would be great to see you there this weekend Jonnie", while Marilyn said: "Sending prayers from Canada". Kerry said: "Best wishes Jonnie" and Jo said: "Everything crossed for you Jonnie xx"
