Jones & Sons founder to launch second site in South Woodford

Dalston restaurant Jones & Sons — which shot to wider fame after becoming the location for the 2021 film Boiling Point — will double up to a new site in South Woodford this summer.

Opening in June, Jones & Sons E18 will take over the huge former site of Elmo’s in South Woodford, opening a 200-cover restaurant, cocktail bar and large events space.

The space is set to be designed by founder Andy Jones’ wife, Christina, with a paired-back look of plaster-wash walls blended with dark ceilings, stone tables and a marble-topped bar.

That style of tried-and-tested yet pleasing design is echoed in the menu, which is set to be studded with approachable British-and-European-leaning dishes marked by ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

While the full menu is still to be unveiled, early dishes are set to include oysters Rockefeller, tuna ceviche with strawberry ponzu, crab tagliatelle with chilli, and honey miso cod with apple dashi.

Heading up the kitchen will be ex-Bistroteque chef Kieran Hope, who currently runs the food offering over at Jones & Sons Dalston.

Ahead of the launch of Jones & Sons E18, Jones commented: "I’m really bloody proud of this latest venture. It's been a long time coming and perhaps it’s age and experience, but I’ve found myself drawn to more varied and comforting dining these past years post-pandemic.”

He continued: “My ultimate goal with the E18 site is to create a sense of home away from home for our guests, but deliver it in true Jones & Sons' style. It may sound cliché, but there's something special about seeing people relax into their seats, knowing they're in for a memorable experience.”
