The Tingle Creek Chase runners, ahead of Saturday’s big Grade One Chase, are headed by the red-hot market leader Jonbon – who will be looking to give trainer Nicky Henderson a fourth success in the Sandown race.
Jonbon Looking To Become The First ‘Back-to-Back’ Tingle Creek Chase Winner Since Kauto Star
In recent years, many Tingle Creek Chase runners have won the Sandown race twice – including Politologue, Sire De Grugy, Master Minded and Twist Magic.
However, none of these former heroes won the race in ‘back-to-back’ years – the last horse to land repeat successes in consecutive seasons was the mighty Kauto Star in 2005 and 2006.
Therefore, last year’s winner Jonbon will be looking to join the former Paul Nicholls-trained superstar – having won the Tingle Creek by an impressive 2 3/4 lengths 12 months ago.
Since winning 12 months ago, Jonbon has finished second in the Clarence House Chase and despite missing the Cheltenham Festival won the Melling Chase at Aintree and the Celebration Chase here at Sandown back in April.
This Nicky Henderson chaser returned this season with a hard-fought win over Boothill, who could be another Tingle Creek Chase runner this Saturday, in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham in the middle of November and has been all the rage in this Sandown market with the best horse racing betting sites since.
Jonbon Has NEVER Lost At Sandown Park
The 8 year-old has now won a remarkable 10 of his 12 career runs over fences – with his only defeats coming in the 2023 Arkle Novices’ Chase and the already mentioned Clarence House Chase last season at Ascot.
Jonbon will also head to Sandown with a top track record the JP McManus-owned chaser is an unbeaten 4-from-4 at the Esher venue.
While trainer Nicky Henderson has won the Tingle Creek three times before.
As well as Jonbon last year, the Seven Barrows handler has also won the prize with the mighty Altior (2018) and Sprinter Sacre (2012)

Past Winner Edwardstone Also An Expected Tingle Creek Chase Runner
The 2022 winner Edwardstone is also due to be a Tingle Creek Chase runner this weekend as the 10 year-old looks to become the oldest winner since Moscow Flyer in 2004.
This Alan King-trained runner was also second in the race 12 months ago and won the 2022 Arkle Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival a few years back.
Edwardstone was last seen running third to his old rival Jonbon in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham last month. While his record here at Sandown is solid 1-1-2-3.

Jonbon Favourite For Champion Chase At The Cheltenham Festival In March
After running in Saturday’s Tingle Creek Chase, Jonbon will be one step nearer the Cheltenham Festival – where he’s currently the market leader at 7/2 for the Queen Mother Champion Chase on day two.
He had to miss the race last season with the Henderson yard pulling most of their Festival horses – but in an open event he’ll be looking to make amends come March.
At this stage the likes of Gaelic Warrior, El Fabiolo and former winner of the race Energumene are just behind Jonbon in the market with the best betting sites in the UK.
Paul Nicholls Has Won The Tingle Creek Chase 12 Times
No trainer has won the Tingle Creek Chase more times that Paul Nicholls – with 12 successes over the years.
Nicholls first won this Sandown Grade One back in 1999 with Flagship Uberalles, who went onto win the race twice more (but for different trainers Noel Chase and Philip Hobbs).
Since then, he’s won the pot with greats like Kauto Star, Master Minded and Politologue.
This year though Paul Nicholls doesn’t really have a big Tingle Creek Chase runner in the race – with, at this stage, his 139-rated Sans Bruit his sole entry.
