Jonas vs Price: Fight time, undercard, latest odds, prediction, ring walks tonight

Head to head: Natasha Jonas faces Lauren Price in a unification fight in London - (Yui Mok/PA Wire)

Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price fight tonight in a huge women’s welterweight world title unification bout in London.

It’s a massive clash of British reigning world champions at the Royal Albert Hall as Liverpool’s highly-experienced two-weight titlist Jonas puts her IBF and WBC belts on the line against Wales’ unbeaten Olympic gold medalist, who defends her WBA and IBO gold in what is only her ninth professional fight.

It is Jonas’ first fight since she became unified welterweight champion and added the WBC title with a dominant points win over Croatia’s Ivana Habazin in Liverpool in December, having previously won the vacant IBF belt with a late stoppage of Kandi Wyatt in summer 2023 and then successfully defended it with a controversial split-decision win over Mikaela Mayer.

Jonas was already the unified light-middleweight world champion, holding the IBF, WBC and WBO belts and now having rattled off seven successive wins since her draw with Terri Harper and defeat by Katie Taylor in 2021.

Now she faces the toughest of tests in a major showdown with Price, the former Cardiff and Wales footballer who won Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth gold as an amateur and has now produced eight successive victories as a professional, becoming the first-ever Welsh female world champion in only her sixth fight as she picked up the WBA, IBO and Ring Magazine titles by unanimous technical decision against Jessica McCaskill, whose eye injury caused the fight to be stopped in round nine.

She defended those belts emphatically for the first time on the undercard of Jonas-Habazin before Christmas, stopping Bexcy Mateus in three rounds.

Now the two champions are firmly on a collision course, with both eyeing a potential undisputed fight later in the year. Mayer currently holds the WBO welterweight belt, though faces a rematch with England’s Sandy Ryan in Las Vegas later this month.

Jonas vs Price undercard

Elsewhere on a bumper all-women’s Boxxer fight card, Caroline Dubois defends her WBC lightweight world title for the second time in the main support act of the night, taking on South Korea’s Bo Mi Re Shin as she looks to bounce back from a frustrating technical draw with Jessica Camara and tee up a bout with Terri Harper next.

Karriss Artingstall and Raven Chapman compete for the vacant British featherweight title, while Chloe Watson defends her European flyweight belt against Jasmina Zapotoczna and Francesca Hennessy hopes to claim the WBA Intercontinental super-bantamweight title against Gemma Ruegg, who is a late replacement for Carla Camila Campos Gonzales.

Jonas vs Price prediction

This is a truly fascinating battle between two in-form superstars of British boxing who will be firmly targeting undisputed status this year. Neither are knockout artists, so a more tactical contest no doubt looms that may be difficult both to predict and score.

Jonas has so much experience but, turning 41 this year and a full 10 years older than her opponent, it seems fair to suggest that the age difference and extra energy reserves are likely to give the speedier Price the edge in a close battle that is likely to quickly to and fro in terms of momentum as the rounds tick on.

However, we expect Price to pull away in the second half of the bout to claim a career-best win and further cement her status as one of the best in the world.

Price to win on points.

Jonas vs Price weigh-in results

There was controversy at Thursday’s weigh-in at The Dorchester as Jonas’ trainer Joe Gallagher claimed that the scales being used were “uncalibrated”, insisting that the sticker of authenticity was two months old.

Promoters Boxxer and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) were both happy with the scales however, with Price dismissing the concerns after an episode that will only add further to the drama of what is already a huge occasion.

Jonas was the heavier fighter at 10st 6lbs 5oz, while Price weighed in at 10st 5lbs.
