Jonas Eidevall sends clear warning to Arsenal after Aston Villa Women's Super League victory

Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall has warned his players cannot relax after their win over Aston Villa and despite the fact key members of the squad have returned from injury.

Like many teams in the Women's Super League, the Gunners have had their fair share of injury problems over the last few months, with Leah Williamson sidelined for a number of months and key figures such as Beth Mead out for the long term.

Eidevall has benefited from the return of some absentees in recent weeks, with both Williamson and Rafaelle Souza making their comebacks earlier this month. Both also played a part in Arsenal's 4-1 win away at Aston Villa on Sunday.

The hosts took an early lead through Kirsty Hanson, but Arsenal were back in front before half-time following an own goal from Rachel Corsie and a strike from Viviane Miedema. After the break, Katie McCabe and substitute Jordan Nobbs added to their tally to round off what turned out to be a comfortable victory.

"The easy thing about this period is that it has been impossible to start thinking about the next game before the one we are playing is finished," Eidevall told Arseblog post-match. "Every game has posed its challenges and difficulties and we have had to work so hard during each game.

"The only thing I don’t want to do is to relax. I don’t want us to say ‘we have players back’ that doesn’t mean things will take care of themselves. We need to keep this spirit and focus in preparing for every game like it’s the most important thing, even if we have more players available.

"So far, I really think the team has done very well in tough circumstances, we are in a great position in the Champions League but we need to finish that work to get the points we need to qualify and hopefully win the group."

Sunday marked Arsenal's 200th game in the WSL and they've won 140 of those, more than any other team in the competition. They move up to second in the table and sit three points behind leaders Chelsea, although the Gunners do have a game in hand.
