Jonas Eidevall urged his Arsenal players to stay positive after they were held to a frustrating draw by West Ham.

The Gunners could not find a way past their opponents in the goalless encounter, despite having 21 shots and dominating proceedings throughout against the Hammers.

It’s two dropped points that could prove crucial in the Women’s Super League title race. Manchester United drew with Everton earlier in the day to allow Chelsea to go top of the table, after Emma Hayes’ side got the better of Tottenham.

Arsenal sit third in the table, three points off United and five behind Chelsea, they do have a game in hand on both.

Speaking after the draw with West Ham, Eidevall insisted his team could “keep their heads high” despite being unable to find the breakthrough.

“It was one of those days,” Eidevall told Sky Sports. “But I can’t fault the performance.

“It’s not only their choice that they have 10 players behind the ball the whole time. It’s us that forced them to do that because we’re controlling them so well and moving them so well.

“Of course we’re lacking the final, final bit of quality today to score. That’s how football is sometimes. I’d be much more worried if we hadn’t created those opportunities.”

On his message to the players after the match, he added: “I said that the performance was good, that they can keep their heads high.

“There is no time to dwell on it. We know what we can take away from here. We need to look forward now.”
