Jon Wilkin takes swipe at Leeds Rhinos after heavy Warrington Wolves defeat

Jon Wilkin has questioned the hunger of Leeds Rhinos' players after their 42-10 defeat to Warrington Wolves. Rohan Smith's side opened the season in dismal fashion as they were outpowered by the Wire, who stormed to a healthy victory.

It was a disappointing return to action for the Rhinos and one that will raise some concerns heading into the latter rounds. Wilkin, a former St Helens player, was among those who criticised the team after seeing them fall to defeat.

He even went as far to suggest Leeds overachieved by making last year's Grand Final, which may have impacted on the desire of the team.

“If you’re a player, you probably over-achieved getting to that Grand Final so you are feeling good about yourself. So in pre-season, maybe that hunger isn’t there.

“But I’m telling you now the hunger at Warrington to start well, it was so in abundance it never had to be called upon. They played like a pack of Wolves.”

Leeds return to action next week against Hull FC before taking on Super League champions St Helens.
