Raging Jon Rahm has lashed out after a poor day at the PGA Championship - as he destroyed a microphone in a furious response to a misplaced chip shot.
An opening-round 76 at Oak Hill left the 2023 Masters champion with plenty of work to do in Round 2 but he managed to launch a recovery with a 2-under 68 to make the cut by two shots. However, his form dipped on Saturday amid heavy rain and consistently poor condition and the 11-time PGA Tour winner is made his frustration known to spectators and viewers at home.
Going into the fifth hole, Rahm made back-to-back bogeys and was 11 strokes back from the lead before the final groups were near teeing off, and he missed the green and landed in the left rough with 41 feet left to the hole on the par 5 hole. As he escaped the rough, he shanked his shot further away from the hole.
That sparked a furious response from Rahm as he was snapped smashing a microphone seconds later. In the end, he finished Rahm the hole with a bogey-4.
The fury continued to boil over in Rochester, when he was unable to find his tee shot in the rough - and a cameraman was in the firing line. He turned to the camera and stated: “Stop aiming at my face when I’m mad.. it’s all you guys do.”
