Jon McLaughlin makes Allan McGregor admission after Rangers return

JON MCLAUGHLIN insists he will never give up the fight to regain the Rangers gloves this term.

But the keeper fully expects to lose his shirt once again when Allan McGregor is fit to return between the sticks.

McGregor was forced to sit out the 1-0 win over Ross County on Friday night after being struck down with a sickness bug this week.

That offered McLaughlin a chance to make his first appearance since the Scottish Cup win at home to Dundee back in October.

McLaughlin was dropped from the side following the 4-0 defeats to Celtic and Ajax and doesn't expect to keep the jersey for the long haul this term.

McLaughlin said: "It is always frustrating for any player, of course. I don’t think I am unique in that sense. There is no doubt about that.

"Every single player, especially at a club like this, you want to be out there every single week playing in front of the fans.

"It is an amazing club to represent so nobody wants to sit by and watch it all go on in front of them. I am not alone in that.

"We have got a very good squad, we are having to battle hard and we have players coming back from injury now so we are only going to get stronger.

"Hopefully I have been able to contribute tonight and take my place out there. Allan will come back in when he is fit I am sure.

"It is just great that we could come here, get the three points and clean sheet and carry on the winning run under the new gaffer.

"Of course [you are pushing]. That is always what you are doing. I am never going to look at myself as a number one or a number two.

"We have got a great squad of goalkeepers at this club with Greegsy, myself, Robby, Kieran, we have got a lot of good goalkeepers that are all pushing and that want to play for this club every week.

"You do everything you can on the training pitch and show the best version of yourself to the manager and you see what comes from there."
