On the latest episode of BBC Breakfast, Jon Kay made a hilarious confession about nappies that had viewers laughing along with the hosts. Jon and his co-host Sally Nugent were on the famous red sofa on Wednesday (March 5), chatting through the day’s news, when they made a light-hearted segue into a topic that many parents can relate to: potty training, according to Bristol Live.
After covering some of the day’s serious headlines, Sally announced, “Now, in the next hour, we are going to be talking about something we all go through, potty training, and the fact that children are learning to use the toilet later than ever.” Jon nodded in agreement, adding, “Whenever it happens, we all know it’s a big deal for families, isn’t it? Training your kids, when you start, when you finish!”
The duo then turned to their viewers, asking for their experiences with the challenging yet rewarding process of potty training. “We wanted to know this morning your experiences, when did you ditch the nappies?” Jon asked. “Do you have any helpful tips for helping others along the process?” he continued, setting the stage for some fun viewer responses.
Then came Jon’s cheeky reply to Sally’s question about when he ditched the nappies. With a grin, Jon shot back, “I haven’t yet,” causing Sally to burst out laughing. “Bless you, Jon! It’s a very long show,” she teased, clearly enjoying the moment. Jon quickly added, “Yeah, it’s three and a half hours. It was the only strategy that mattered!” leaving Sally in stitches, reports the Express.
Though their banter was light and humorous, the presenters were quick to remind viewers that potty training is a serious issue for many parents across the UK, with some children taking longer than others to make the transition from nappies to the toilet.
This wasn’t the first time Sally was left speechless on BBC Breakfast. Last year, she and Jon were caught off guard during a segment featuring a group of men who stripped off to raise funds for charity, in a playful nod to the famous “Calendar Girls.”
Sally was so taken aback by the spectacle that she turned to weather presenter Carol Kirkwood and said, “Carol, have you seen this? I’m not really sure what to say.” A stunned Carol struggled to find the words, while Jon amusingly stepped in to explain the fundraising effort to viewers, even showing a picture of one of the calendar’s “bare” participants, saying, “You’ve heard of Calendar Girls, well this morning, we have Calendar Boys, and here’s one of them.”
