Jon Jones Hints To Tom Aspinall Fight After Win Over Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones has hinted towards a fight with interim UFC heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, after beating Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

Jon Jones Hints Towards Tom Aspinall Fight

Jon Jones defeated Stipe Miocic in the 3rd round via TKO to reclaim his heavyweight title at UFC 309, as he continues to cement his place as the greatest of all time.

In the buildup to this fight, many MMA enthusiasts were critical of Jones fighting Miocic, as the latter had fought once in four years and lost by knockout to Francis Ngannou.

The focus was on the interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, who has been earning his stripes in the division – beating five of the top 10 ranked heavyweights.

However, Jones has been extremely dismissive about a potential fight with the British UFC star, claiming Aspinall had not done anything to warrant a fight with the UFC legend.

This changed slightly during Jones’ post-fight interview in the cage with Joe Rogan, as Jones denied any chances of retiring and said the fans ‘might get what they want’.

Jones said (Via TNT Sports): “As for my future in the octagon, I’ve decided that maybe I will not retire and that I have some conversations to have with Dana and Hunter – we have some negotiating to do.

“If everything does go right then maybe we will give you guys what you want to see.”

Aspinall was in attendance at UFC 309 and spoke about the fight, saying that it went exactly how he expected it to go and called Stipe Miocic ‘too slow’.

He also spoke on fighting Jones, saying (Via TNT Sports): “If Jones wants to stay at heavyweight then he has to fight me, but if he wants to have some fun fights then fair enough go down to light heavyweight – but give up the heavyweight title.”
