Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's Bolton Wanderers return reviewed & Manchester City loanee verdict given

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson could well play a part for Bolton Wanderers against Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night after returning from injury in the win over Peterborough United.

Wanderers hosted Posh and went close to taking the lead in the first half when Gethin Jones headed against the post. Conor Bradley had earlier seen a good chance go wide.

After the break, Dion Charles curled over from outside the box, while Jack Iredale also saw an effort saved. But Wanderers went ahead thanks to Dapo Afolayan as his deflected effort bounced over the line to deliver the hosts a valuable three points.

Bodvarsson looked sharp after coming off the bench in the win, after being out of late with a hamstring problem. He has not been called up for international duty by Iceland and is poised to feature for Wanderers at Prenton Park, which Evatt is now focusing on after the victory against Posh.

He also believes Manchester City loanee James Trafford was not tested by Posh and that he was perhaps too relaxed in the early stages of the encounter after a couple of nervous moments. But the teenager is player Wanderers think very highly of.

Evatt said: “We need to get him (Bodvarsson) up to speed again. He’s not been called up I believe so we’ve got another opportunity to get some minutes into his legs on Tuesday, which is important for him and I’m delighted to have him back.

“I don’t think he (James Trafford) had a save to make. He’s almost too relaxed at times, especially the first five minutes! He’s a great young goalkeeper, we think a lot of him.

“I’m delighted for the players because they deserved that win today.

“I’ve been pleased with them all season pretty much. I think our performances have been very good, excellent at times, and today was no different. The pleasing thing if you look at it is there’s improvements to come because if we start taking these chances, we’re going to give someone a good hiding, but for now we’ll enjoy a victory and focus on Tuesday and a little break on the international games.”
