The highly anticipated musical sequel to the 2019 hit 'Joker,' starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, has received an R rating for 'some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality and brief full nudity,' according to the MPA's latest ratings bulletin.

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the original 'Joker' film was also rated R for 'strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, language and brief sexual images.' Among these musical numbers is a rendition of 'That's Entertainment' from the classic 1953 musical 'The Band Wagon,' famously performed by Judy Garland. Additionally, a couple of original songs are expected to be featured on the soundtrack.

After its triumphant reception at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, the initial 'Joker' installment went on to amass over $1 billion in global box office earnings and dominated the 2020 Oscars with an impressive 11 nominations. Phoenix clinched the coveted best actor Oscar for his compelling portrayal of Arthur Fleck, alias the Joker.
