Join the tree planting project putting a 90-acre Perthshire property back to its wild state

Two hundred trees went in the ground thanks to volunteers helping with a Perthshire rewilding project and they plan to do more this Sunday.

A community group, called the Friends of Denmarkfield, have been busy rewilding 90 acres of land between Luncarty and Perth purchased in 2016 by Amy and Graham Allen.

The couple are passionate about sustainability and environmental conservation and in March 2021 they took on a dedicated rewilding manager, Ellie Corsie, and seasonal part-time intern.

The project Rewilding Denmarkfield aims to restore the ecosystem and increase biodiversity, allowing the establishment of a mosaic of natural habitats such as grasslands, scrubs, wet habitats and native woodlands.

On Sunday, January 30 Friends of Denmarkfield planted 200 saplings.

Ellie posted on the Facebook page: “Thank you to the amazing Friends of Denmarkfield for planting 200 trees and shrubs.

“What an amazing turnout.”

The next event like this is on Sunday, February 27.
