National White Wine Day is August 4th and wouldn’t it be fun to celebrate this made-up holiday by sending a stream of white wine emojis to every group text you’re in? Oh wait, you can’t. That’s because, to date, the only wine emoji is a glass of red wine. Sure, a rosé emoji would be incredibly useful for those summer afternoons spent gathering friends to come over and join in the patio pounding of pink wine, but one winery is getting its act together in campaigning for an official white wine emoji (and perhaps more hues of wine to follow!).
Kendall Jackson, along with several other wine partners, has launched WhiteWineEmoji.net, a global initiative to petition Unicode (essentially the governing board that approves new emoji) to add a white wine emoji to the emoji keyboard.
Of course, drinking is involved in the people’s petition to get this very useful character in our universal language. Posting #WhiteWineEmoji along with Kendall-Jackson’s official petition, which depicts what the white wine emoji could look like, will certainly show demand for the animation, but take it a step further and Instagram these attractive (and inexpensive!) bottles of white from all over the globe to show just how much we need this white wine emoji to unite us all.

The bottle and its retro French label are undeniably Instagram friendly, but what’s inside is just as good. This white blend from the Southern Rhone is an easy drinker, either alone or with light dishes, like salad (a wine that encourages you to eat healthy? why not!), and citrus notes are super refreshing on a summer day, like, say National White Wine Day. $10, GrandVinWineMerchants.com

Move out of your Chardonnay and Savvy B comfort zone and petition for the #WhiteWineEmoji with a 100% Spanish Albariño. This Iberian grape is both aromatic and acidic, and this wine has notes of citrus and melon, as well as a strong mouthfeel that allows the wine to stand up to starchy dishes, white meat and Asian flavors. $8.99, WarehouseWinesAndSpirits.com

This blend of Trebbiano, Cococciola and Pecorino grapes pairs well with raw seafood, so just imagine the spread you can ‘gram with the #WhiteWineEmoji hashtag as you drink a frosty glass of this Italian white wine. $17, WineChateau.com
