The Ministry of Culture invites you to visit attractions and temples on Rattanakosin Island, a historic area in Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok during "The 240th Anniversary Of The Foundation Of Rattanakosin" until Sunday.
The festival is packed with many activities, allowing everyone to pay respect to Buddha images at nine royal temples, visit museums at night, enjoy light and sound performances, shop for cultural products and indulge in authentic Thai cuisine at nine designated zones.
The National Museum Bangkok and the National Theatre present cultural performances such as a likay show, khon masked dance and nora dance as well as Chinese opera, from 5-9.30pm.
At Santichaiprakarn Park, visitors will witness cultural heritage presented through many performances, mostly by students, and enjoy a community market, from 4-9pm.
The Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall is holding a cultural exhibition with free admission from 9am to 8pm while the Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center features a screening of famous Thai movies of yesteryear, courtesy of the Thai Film Archive; art and cultural showcases by youth artists; a photo exhibition; and an exhibition on "Asean Communities In Rattanakosin: From Past To Present".
This is another chance to have fun at night at Wat Prayurawongsawas as the temple is hosting a fair packed with cultural performances and a local food showcase, from 6-10pm.
At Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre, prepare to go back in time with dance shows from the four regions and khon masked dance staged daily at 1pm, 2.30pm and 4pm.
The Grand Palace is open to visitors from 8.30am to 4.30pm and there are also shuttle bus services to take everyone to visit 20 venues around Rattanakosin Island free of charge.
