The body of a man was found in a Renfrewshire town in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police swooped on Houston Square in Johnstone shortly before 3am after the grim discovery was made.
It was confimed that the body was of a 58-year-old man. Officers sealed off the square itself as an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death was launched.
Police Scotland are currently treating the death as "unexplained" while further enquiries are carried out.
Forensics officers could be seen working behind the taped-off square with a small tent set up near a bench.
Uniformed officers stood guard at the scene while local residents went about their weekend business.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Daily Record: “Around 2.55am on Saturday, May 13, police received a report of a 58-year-old man’s body being found in Houston Square, Johnstone.
"Officers are in attendance and the death is being treated as unexplained. Enquiries are ongoing."
