Manager Jamie McKim insists he’s targeting league title glory with Johnstone Burgh this season.
And the Keanie Park boss believes not taking aim at becoming champions would show a lack of ambition given the signings he’s already made this summer.
Having previously sealed the sensational capture of former Rangers and West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans, Burgh have made a number of other strong additions as they look to seal promotion from the WoSFL First Division to the top flight.
Former Arthurlie defender Callum Nolan, who helped the Barrhead club secure their WoSFL Conference title after an invincible season, has also made the move to Keanie Park.
Experienced former Glenafton and Pollok defender Craig Menzies has also linked up with Burgh, as has ex-Largs keeper Jamie McGowan, former Auchinleck Talbot striker Hamish McKinlay and ex-Neilston forward Dylan Fletcher.
Goalkeeper Graham Black will also vie for the number one jersey after joining from Kilbirnie Ladeside, with Pollok stalwart Gary McCann and striker Stuart McCann also signing over the weekend.
McKim is confident the squad he’s assembling will have what it takes to go all the way this season and lift the league title.
He told Express Sport: “Pre-season has gone well so far and we’re building up quickly because we don’t have long until the new season gets underway.
“We’re delighted to get Callum in. He didn’t play a lot last season, which surprised me because he’s such a good leader and I thought he would have been a big player for Arthurlie.
“He’s good on and off the ball, is brilliant in the dressing room and he fits into our plan for this season perfectly.
“We had a meeting with the players and I’ve told them our target this season has got to be being number one in our division. With the players we’ve got coming in the door and the 22-man squad we’re going to have, people would say I was scared or showing a lack of ambition if we weren’t going for the title.
“We want to get out of this league and get into that top tier.
“We’ve got to embrace that pressure because with the quality and reputation of the players we’ve got coming in, other teams will raise their game when they play us. We have to be ready for that.”
Burgh have a host of pre-season friendlies lined up this month, including run outs against Renfrewshire rivals Thorn Athletic and Ayrshire giants Hurlford and Auchinleck Talbot.
McKim is certain his side will be fit and raring to go once the competitive action starts after a thorough pre-season campaign,
He said: “There’s no time to waste in terms of getting everyone fit and ready to go.
“I’m buzzing for the challenge this season. It’s always exciting heading into a new season but this one has an extra bit given the signings we’ve made.
“With the quality we’ve got, we’ve a real chance of making this a memorable season but we need to be right at it from day one.”
