A hamstring injury to Warriors talisman Shaun Johnson has rubbed salt into the wounds of a 66-6 loss to Gold Coast.

The 33-year-old playmaker missed four weeks with a pectoral strain and was off the pace in the loss to the Titans at Robina on Saturday, the club''s equal heaviest defeat.

The Warriors host the Broncos next Saturday with both sides desperate for a win and to have their best players on deck.

"Shaun was fit but he picked up something today. He has got a tight hamstring and has got ice on it. We will reassess that," coach Andrew Webster said.

Johnson played half but appeared way off the pace.

Webster blamed the forwards.

"If we turned up and were physical and went after the opposition, and wanted to win that battle, I feel like you might've seen the best in Shaun," Webster said.

"We got rolled completely down the field and every single player was accountable for that.

"If we had heaps of ball and our go forward and our defence was amazing I feel like we could start talking about halfbacks, fullbacks and hookers and how could you improve things and change things.

"Today we were not there physically, so to be talking about those things i think is the wrong day for it."

Johnson sustained the pectoral strain in round 10 and has not been injured since.

"We were really clear that we wanted to give him those two week off heading into a bye. We even gave him another week off after it," Webster said.

"We wanted to give him every opportunity to get back where he was and he did that."
