It has been quite the year for Nottingham Forest; a 12 months jam-packed full of special moments.
Wembley will take some beating. That was an incredible day to live long in the memory for Reds fans and everyone at the club. But there was also that brilliant FA Cup run, some stunning results and, after 23 long years, the sight of Forest finally being back in the Premier League. Some year!
With so much to look back on as 2022 comes to a close, supporters have been able to have their say on who has been their Reds player of the year. It’s certainly a tough choice, given what has been achieved.

Ryan Yates, Brennan Johnson, Scott McKenna and Joe Worrall are the four players up for the honour, as nominated by NottinghamshireLive. We’ve already had hundreds of votes, and you haven’t got long left to have your say on who should be the winner.
Voting closes on Thursday, with the results to be announced next Monday (December 19). Currently, there is one clear leader, but that could yet change in the next few days.
Midfielder Yates tops the leaderboard at present. Having taken a fair bit of stick in the past, 2022 was the year when he really turned opinions around.
He was at the heart of Forest’s promotion push, and has been a driving force again this season as Steve Cooper’s side scrap at the bottom end of the table. That he was named vice-captain on the club’s return to the top-flight, says much about the esteem in which he is held, and he has led by example. All that’s left is for his “swimming” celebration to get an airing when he bags his first Premier League goal.
Fellow Nigel Doughty Academy graduate Johnson isn’t too far behind Yates in the votes, however. In what was really his breakthrough year at the City Ground, he lit up the Championship. He has gone on to score twice following the step up in division and capped off his year by representing Wales at the World Cup.
Defenders McKenna and Worrall, who were both integral to the promotion-winning campaign, are some way behind in the poll. There is time for all of that to change in the final days of voting, however.
You can have your say using the widget above. Or click here and select ‘Nottingham Forest’ in the Fans’ Club Footballer of the Year section, then make your choice by clicking on your chosen player. Get your votes in before the poll closes on Thursday.
