Dublin actor Johnny Ward has announced he is engaged to salon owner Brenda Murphy.
The Love/Hate and Fair City star has been dating Brenda since February 2021 after he ran to her aid when she tripped while out walking in The Curragh in Kildare. Taking to social media today, Johnny shared a sweet video as he popped the question to Brenda and she accepted.
He said: “Delighted to finally announce that my best friend said ‘yes’. I am getting married July 2023."

"Thank you for making me the happiest man in the world. Love you more than anything @brmbrenda.” Johnny first rose to fame on Love/Hate as Pauley, and later as kidnapper Ciaran Holloway on Fair City and will reprise the role in the stage show Copper Face Jacks The Musical.
Johnny also participated on Dancing With The Stars in 2018 with pro-dance partner Emily Barker, eventually finishing as runners-up to winners Mairead Ronan and John Nolan.
Johnny previously told RSVP Live how he and Brenda met one day on the Curragh, after the actor was concerned she was in difficulty when exercising. He said last year: “I checked to see if she was okay.
"We walked in the same direction afterwards and it was almost like the way panto characters would meet. We got chatting on Instagram a couple of days after and we did the walk again," he added.
According to Johnny, Brenda is not involved in showbusiness and runs her own salon in Wicklow. He said: “She has nothing to do with media or acting, which is probably the first time that has happened to me.
“She and her family are big Fair City fans and they watched Dancing With The Stars and Love/Hate.”
Johnny said: “There was nothing to do in February. Her salon was closed. We started hiking together and we did things I would have normally done.”
