Johnny Sexton failed his Head Injury Assessment (HIA) after going off with a knock against New Zealand.
The Leinster fly-half was replaced by Joey Carbery having slipped into Sam Cane during the first half in Auckland.
There had been hope that Sexton might return to action, but it was confirmed during half-time that he had failed his HIA.
That means that the 36-year-old now looks set to miss next weekend's second Test in Dunedin too at the very least.
New concussion protocols came into effect on Friday which state that players diagnosed with concussion will face an increased minimum stand-down period of 12 days.
More to follow.
