Actor John Wesley has died at the age of 72, it has been confirmed.
The star, who appeared as Dr Hoover in the Will Smith-led series Fresh Prince of Bel Air, died after being diagnosed with cancer, his family has said.
In a statement issued to Variety, Wesley's manager Gerry Pass said: "John Wesley was a gift to the world, for his kindness and grace are immortalized in his works of theatre, TV and film.
"I am heartbroken to have lost a dear friend today.”
Before becoming an actor, Wesley served in the US army during the Vietnam War.
Upon returning to the States, he landed over 100 film and television roles, recently starting in The Man From U.N.C.L.E and NCIS.
His Fresh Prince role saw him play the father of a bully who targetted Ashley Banks, the on-screen cousin of lead star Smith.
Wesley also worked on movies alongside stars including Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington and Barbra Streisand.
His final project was a short film, titled Second Acts.
