John Terry sums up Kai Havertz' goal technique with six word analysis after Chelsea vs Newcastle

John Terry has praised Chelsea's match winner Kai Havertz for his 'touch' and 'finish' to win the Blues their fifth Premier League match in the row against Eddie Howe's in-form Newcastle.

Havertz, 22, was a lot quieter on Sunday afternoon in comparison to midweek's trip to Norwich but he was still ever present to make the difference in a tight encounter.

In the 89th minute, the German sublimely controlled Jorginho's long raking ball over the top of the Toon defence before poking his effort past the onrushing Martin Dubravka.

"The Kai Havertz goal was exceptional. We were, of course, a bit lucky today. We maybe had a hard time on the pitch because Newcastle was physical, well deserved, gave us difficulty to create chances and accelerate the game in the last 30 metres," manager Thomas Tuchel said in his post-match press conference.

"It was so important not to concede. To have the quality with one chance, one quality pass and one quality finish to win it. Thank goodness we did it. We never got frustrated about it. They defended very, very well. You could see in the last four minutes what a goal does to the team.

"We were so good in the last four minutes. It was so easy to find the gaps, the switch of play, everything was so easy and so much more fluid. This is what happens. I think the distraction level was not the biggest part today."

Terry, although a lot more succinct in analysis of the goal, followed on from Tuchel's message to deliver his own thoughts on the 22-year-old's moment of magic.

He tweeted off his Twitter account @JohnTerry26: 'What a touch , what a finish [followed by two emojis].'

Critics like Jamie Redknapp, Alan Shearer and Newcastle supporters may argue that the £70million man shouldn't have even been on the pitch to net the winner after what happened in the 39th minute.

Nonetheless, the player who is keeping Romelu Lukaku out of the fold proved once again why he is being selected after he scored his fifth goal in his last six games in all competitions.

football.london rated the man under the spotlight with a 8/10 rating on this occasion with the justification: 'Once again preferred to lead the attack ahead of Romelu Lukaku, Havertz spent much of the opening 45 minutes tussling with Newcastle centre-backs Schar and Dan Burn.

'He couldn't escape the Magpies defenders after the interval either and it appeared as though it was going to be a frustrating afternoon for Havertz. But then, in the dying moments, he burst forward to collect a Jorginho pass and poke beyond Martin Dubravka to secure all three points for Chelsea. 8'
