John Terry has wished Chelsea youngster Charlie Webster good luck after completing his move to SC Heerenveen on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old midfielder, who joined the Blues academy as an Under-10, is set for his first taste of senior football following a successful campaign with the development squad.
Webster featured 21 times for Mark Robinson's side in the Premier League 2 last season, directly contributing towards seven goals. The England Under-19 international played a major role in helping the west Londoners' finish third behind only Liverpool and Manchester City.
After earning his stripes at Cobham, Webster now has the chance to test himself in the Eredivisie – where SC Heerenveen ranked eighth last term. With a difficult challenge ahead, Terry has wished him well on his endeavours in the Dutch top flight.
Webster announced his move to the Netherlands on Instagram. A handful of his teammates from the academy flooded the comment section with message of support, but one name stood out in particular – Terry.
"Good luck Chaz," wrote the former Chelsea captain. Terry is likely to have worked with Webster in some capacity since beginning a coaching consultancy role at the academy in December 2021.
His role has required him to act as a role model for the exciting prospects to look up to and use as a beacon of guidance. Over the last couple of years or so, Chelsea will have noticed the growing number of Cobham graduates that 'got away'.
And latest to do so may be the most damning – Mason Mount. football.london understands that Chelsea and Manchester United have reached an agreement worth around £60million for the 24-year-old midfielder, who has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

It's believed that United will pay the Blues £55m, plus a further £5m in add-ons, and the England international will now undergo the formalities of joining a new club. With Mount closing in on a move to Old Trafford, Chelsea will need to replace him.
So, step forward Webster. Just like the Blues ace, his first taste of senior football will come in the Eredivisie. Mount enjoyed a fantastic loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem across the 2017/18 campaign before then testing himself in the Championship.
His performances under Frank Lampard at Derby County then paved a pathway into the first-team before becoming a regular under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. Maybe Pochettino has the same plan for Webster.
