John Terry gives honest verdict on Raheem Sterling to Chelsea transfer after medical 'completed'

John Terry has delivered his verdict on Raheem Sterling. The 27-year-old has penned a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge and an announcement is now imminent. The deal will last until June 2027 and there is an option for a further season.

The England international becomes the first men's team signing of the Todd Boehly era and will join up with Thomas Tuchel and the first-team squad for the Blues' pre-season tour of the United States, during which games against Club America, Charlotte FC and Arsenal will be played.

football.london understands Chelsea will pay Manchester City an initial fee worth around £45million for Sterling. A further £10million will be due to the Premier League champions if a number of performance-related add-ons are met throughout the 27-year-old's time at Stamford Bridge.

As per Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Sterling completed most of his Chelsea medical in London on Sunday. He's also signed his contract and an announcement is expected sooner rather than later.

The Italian transfer guru said: "Raheem Sterling has completed main part of medical tests in London yesterday, contract signed until 2027 plus option for further season as new Chelsea player. Matter of time for the official statement."

With the deal all but official, Terry has taken to Instagram to express his delight at the signing. As seen on Reddit, when asked what his views on Sterling are, the Blues' legendary captain said: "Love him. Would be a great signing."

Sterling is a statement signing from the Blues as they look to reduce the gap between themselves and last season's Champions, Manchester City. More business is expected so it's very much a good start for the Blues.
