Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall was a shining light for the west London side in the first half as the left wing-back impressed against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup. The 18-year-old made his second senior appearance for the Blues against the English champions, having made his debut against Chesterfield in the FA Cup last season.
It was a huge decision from Graham Potter to start the academy graduate in such a huge occasion, but it was one he explained before the game to Sky Sports. "My experience of these games is that there is always someone who emerges," the manager claimed when asked about his team selection.
"Obviously we hope it’s Lewis but it could be someone else. That’s the beauty of the game. We want to try and win but it’s important that guys who train with the team get a chance to play as well."

Hall impressed during the first half, keeping the left flank on lock while also having a huge chance to open the scoring. The wing-back burst into the box, faking a shot and dragging the ball away from Rico Lewis to go one-on-one with Stefan Ortega, but struggling to get a dangerous shot away.
Former Chelsea captain John Terry was full of praise for the youngster on Twitter, saying: "What a great first half performance from Lewis Hall."
The performance suggests there's plenty more to come from Hall in the future, one of many young stars that could have a place in the side under the new Boehly-Clearlake regime. It remains to be seen if he can fulfil that potential, but it's a good start to his Chelsea career so far.
