JOHN Swinney has said that “Scotland doesn’t take Anas Sarwar seriously” during a fiery exchange at First Minister’s Questions (FMQs).
The Scottish Labour leader was condemning the SNP Government’s record on the NHS in Holyrood on Thursday.
“It’s not another SNP first minister, not another failed SNP health secretary, not another failed SNP plan that Scotland needs,” he said.
“It's a new government and a new direction.”
John Swinney then responded: “There wasn't a single solution offered by Anas Sarwar, not one.”
This led to jeers from the Scottish Labour benches.
“Let's hear the First Minister,” the Presiding officer intervened.
“Well, look. Listen. We'll be, we'll be here as long as it takes for me to explain the point I'm going to make to Parliament today,” Swinney continued with shouts from both the Scottish Labour and Tory benches.
He then joked: “I see the allies have come to the rescue.”
The First Minister then continued his attack on Sarwar, saying he had “promised the Waspi women in Scotland that he would be at their side”.
He added: “And at the first whiff of change, the Labour Government came in and shut the door. Sarwar is high on rhetoric, low on delivery, and that’s why Scotland doesn't take him seriously.”
