JOHN Swinney has called on Scots to donate to The National's fundraiser for Medical Aid for Palestinians as it nears its goal.
So far, we have raised more than £38,000 for our vital fundraiser providing aid to people on the ground in Gaza – meaning we have almost hit our target of £50k.
We told how the First Minister – alongside all of Scotland's main political party leaders – endorsed the fundraiser, as he said: “I appreciate that times are tough for people, but I would ask everyone to contribute as much as you possibly can."
Yet Swinney renewed calls for support on Friday as he said: "This is an important initiative that has my full support. Please help if you can"

Medical Aid for Palestinians is one of the few charities on the ground in northern Gaza, getting much-needed drugs and equipment to hospitals.
While the ceasefire remains intact, the need is still great – perhaps even more so than ever as Gaza’s healthcare system struggles to survive.
Our fundraiser has gained support from the likes of Alan Cumming, Frankie Boyle, Jeremy Corbyn, Caroline Lucas and Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK.
If you are able to do so, please consider donating to our fundraiser.
