John Stamos recalls Matthew Perry kind act he ‘never forgot’ when guest starring on Friends

John Stamos has recalled an act of kindness shown to him by Matthew Perry that has stayed with him for two decades.

Friends star Perry died last Saturday aged 54 after an apparent drowning in the outdoor hot tub of his Los Angeles home.

Taking to social media to pay tribute to the late star, Stamos, 60, shared a behind-the-scenes story from when he was a guest star on Friends.

Stamos appeared in season nine episode The One With The Donor in which he played Zach, a potential sperm donor for Perry’s character Chandler and his wife Monica (Courteney Cox).

Uploading a clip of a scene from the episode in which Monica and Chandler grill Zach about his family’s health history, he wrote alongside it: “Matthew and I had been friendly long before Friends, so when I guest starred as Zach, the prospective sperm donor for Chandler and Monica, I hung with him a lot.”

Stamos recalled: “Standing backstage, ready to make my entrance, Matt whispers, ‘The audience is going go crazy when they see you! Get ready for some loud screams.’ I walk through the door… silence. I was so embarrassed,” Stamos, best known for playing Uncle Jesse in 80s comedy series Full House, said.

“We finish the scene and as I start to slither back to my dressing room and quit showbiz, Matt walks over to the studio audience: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for John Stamos! You guys probably didn’t recognise him at first because [he’s] so much better looking in person!’

“I never forgot that and the world will never forget you,” he concluded the post.
