Hearts are breathing a sigh of relief after it was confirmed John Souttar has NOT suffered another Achilles injury.
The Rangers-bound defender limped off in the Jambos' 2-2 Premiership draw at Dundee United on Saturday with half an hour still to play on Saturday.
And, despite team-mate Andy Halliday hinting on the Open Goal podcast that he reckoned it was an Achilles problem again, reports came out on Tuesday to the contrary.
It appears the 25-year-old Scotland centre-back is battling with an ankle problem that could keep him sidelined for a little while, but nowhere near as long as was initially feared after Halliday's claims.
Souttar has signed a pre-contract to move to the Gers in the summer, but has been pivotal in the Jam Tarts maintaining their stranglehold on third place.
He'll likely miss Saturday's Scottish Cup quarter-final visit of St Mirren to Tyencastle, but boss Robbie Neilson will hope to have him back quickly as his squad is starting to look a little bare.
The Gorgie gaffer is having to deal with a raft of injuries after Souttar, Gary Mackay-Steven, Cammy Devlin, Alex Cochrane, Nathaniel Atkinson and Josh Ginnelly all picked up knocks against United last weekend.
They will all be assessed ahead of the Buddies clash, but Cochrane is definitely out after suffering a nasty concussion.
