John Lydon's wife, Nora Forster, has died after a battle with Alzheimer's.
The former Sex Pistols frontman, also known as Johnny Rotten, had been Nora's full time carer and has regularly spoken out to raise awareness of the condition. John's official Twitter account has announced the news she has died aged 80.
A statement said: "It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Nora Forster - John Lydon's wife of nearly 5 decades - has passed away. Nora had been living with Alzheimer’s for several years. In which time John had become her full time carer.

"Please respect John's grief and allow him space. Rest in Peace Nora. Heart felt condolences to John from Rambo and all at PiL Official." John was aiming to represent Ireland in this year's Eurovision with a song dedicated to his wife.
The 67-year-old had written a song called Hawaii, which was about his wife's battle with dementia. The singer fought back tears on Good Morning Britain in January as he discussed her health battle.
He said: "I'm bringing awareness to Alzheimer's. That's a win, and a win, and a win, because that is such a debilitating thing to watch my wife suffer and have to go through, and more power to the Irish for giving me the respect here."
John lost out in hid bid to represent Ireland as he came fourth out of six acts.
