Rangers have launched an appeal against John Lundstram's highly-contentious sending-off against Hibs.
The midfielder was shown a straight red after a cynical foul that stopped Martin Boyle in full flight during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Easter Road. The visitors led 2-1 after James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence had scored either side of Boyle's equaliser for the hosts when the Light Blues were reduced to 10 men.
Gio van Bronckhorst's players surrounded Willie Collum in protest at the decision. Replays showed that Lundstram definitely caught the Australian international, but whether the Scouser was reckless or endangering his opponent was debatable. The Ibrox club have now contested the call by appealing to the Scottish FA, citing wrongful dismissal. Van Bronckhorst said after the game that the club would have to be 'smart' in considering their reaction. Lundstram's case will now be heard by a fastrack disciplinary panel to determine whether his red is downgraded to a yellow.
Rangers saw their numbers further depleted when Alfredo Morelos was shown a straight red. The Colombian appeared to throw an arm into the face of Hibs' Croatian left back Marijan Cabraja and was given his marching orders.
That isn't being appealed by the Light Blues, who have made their feelings clear about Collum to the governing body before. It's understood these have been reiterated in their appeal over Lundstram's red card.
They will find out this week whether the midfielder is available for their next Scottish Premiership fixture. Ross County at Ibrox this weekend comes hot on the heels of a massive Champions League playoff round second leg against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
