John Lundstram’s Rangers injury a 'big worry' as Alan Hutton offers solution to Michael Beale

John Lundstram's injury will be a 'big worry' for Rangers manager Michael Beale in the lead up to some big games later this month, Alan Hutton has insisted.

The Light Blues midfielder hobbled off after just 11 minutes against Malky Mackay's Ross County side on Saturday afternoon. He was replaced by Malik Tillman and was spotted leaving Ibrox in a moon boot as fans grew concerned about the extent of the injury to his ankle. The 28-year-old has been one of Beale's best performers since he arrived in Govan the second time around. He has been pivotal to Beale's unbeaten start at Ibrox and was instrumental in the win over Hearts last week at Tynecastle.

Former Rangers and Aston Villa full-back Hutton worries Beale could miss the midfielder badly, however he said recent recruits Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin would help fill the gap in the central area. Rangers will face some stiff tests in the next couple of weeks with trips to West Lothian to face Livingston in the league, then the Viaplay Cup final against Celtic at the end of the month.

No update has been given on Lundstram's injury, however Beale may address the issue at his press conference ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle at Ibrox on Sunday.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: "The biggest worry will be for John Lundstram. He will know that there is competition that has come in. It is a real shame for him, it was a poor ball into the midfield and he chased back to try and correct his mistake and he gets caught on the ankle.

"I think he is still a key member of that squad. Raskin coming in and Hagi coming back, there is options there for the manager. Hopefully it is not too bad because you want a fully fit squad."
