John Lundstram's first Rangers words as he reveals the ex-player who sold him the club

John Lundstram has revealed he held talks with John Fleck before making the move to Rangers this summer.

The Ibrox new boy joined on a three-year deal and is already excited to get going at the club after completing the move north of the border.

And it was a Rangers old boy who played a part in persuading him to make the move north of the border after running his contract down at Bramall Lane.

Lundstram grew up as a Liverpool fan and watched Steven Gerrard close and it also played a big part in him deciding to join Rangers instead of staying in England.

He told Rangers TV: "Speaking to Steven was a massive draw for me, I was speaking to Flecky (John Fleck) and people like that and he said ‘don’t hesitate to get up there’ and that.

"I’m made up to get it over the line and hopefully I can contribute to a bit of success."

Lundstram is at Firhill for Rangers' first pre-season game of the season and will join up with training soon and he hopes he can hit top form at the club.

At 27, he believes he is coming into his prime and he believes being at a big club with Gerrard will help him.

He added: "I had a walk around and it was an eye-opener to how big it was and I can’t wait to get started now.

"Every Liverpool fan growing up idolised Steven, that’s the way it was in Liverpool. To speak to him and for someone like him to want me was massive.

"I want to learn from him and I’m coming into my prime and hopefully I can play my best football here and I’m sure he can help me."
