John Lundstram makes Rangers progression call after win over County

JOHN LUNDSTRAM reckons victory over Ross County was another step in the right direction as Rangers made it three from three under new boss Michael Beale.

The Scouser netted the only goal of the game in the Highlands as his first half strike proved the difference and earned Rangers a valuable away win.

Beale made four changes to his starting line-up following the hard-fought victories at home to Hibernian and on the road at Aberdeen in recent days.

The Englishman is still trying to implement his brand of football on the squad he inherited from Giovanni van Bronckhorst but Lundstram was pleased with aspects of the performance in a low-key Premiership encounter.

Lundstram said: “Yeah, a satisfying night and a satisfying week all in all really.

“We have obviously been trying to get the gaffer’s style of play in and it has not been as free flowing like a click of the fingers. But three wins, you can’t really ask for much more, and a clean sheet tonight was pleasing

“I thought second half we were really good. I thought we controlled the game second half.

“Last ten minutes, because we didn’t get the second goal, they have obviously pushed on because they are the home team.

“But I think for 35 minutes in the second half we controlled the game and to not kill the game was the only disappointing thing really. Again we defended well the last ten minutes when they threw the kitchen sink at us.

“Of course we are trying to implement that in training and we are working on it every day. I think tonight was probably the most you have seen us, the best flow of what he has been asking from us, especially keeping the ball in their half and sustaining attacks.

“That is what he wants, just keeping the ball in their half and trying to keep the momentum going. Bit more pleasing second half.

“We have had a couple of tough results on the road this year so to get a couple back to back now is pleasing. Long may it continue.”
