John Lundstram cuts heartbroken Rangers figure as star too distraught for fan photos

Heartbroken John Lundstram still looked on the verge of tears as Rangers left their Spanish hotel the day after their Europa League heartbreak against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's team left their hotel in Seville this afternoon as they prepared to start their journey back to Glasgow and were met by some fans who were gathered outside the team's hotel.

Sky Sports filmed many of the Rangers squad, including manager Van Bronckhorst, stopping and posing for photo's and chatting with fans, but Lundstram, who looked visibly gutted, kept his head down and walked straight towards the team bus, offering a wave of acknowledgment before boarding.

The 28-year-old has become a cult hero at Ibrox and showed just how much it meant having revitalised his Rangers career since of the turn of the year.

The footage showed Lundstram was clearly struggling to keep his emotions intact after Rangers' near miss.

The former Sheffield United midfielder was perhaps fortunate to escape an early punishment for a high tackle on Frankfurt's Sebastian Rode who required stitches post-match.

Rangers fans were dreaming when Joe Aribo's opener sent the blue half of the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan into raptures but a well-worked move down the left from Eintracht Frankfurt saw them level shortly after through Rafael Borre.

Ryan Kent spurned a gilt-edged chance to win it for Rangers deep into extra-time, but his effort was thwarted by Kevin Trapp.

Ultimately, Aaron Ramsey's miss from 12-yards proved decisive and it was the Bundesliga outfit who went on the lift their second major European trophy.
