The heart-tugging new John Lewis Christmas advert has finally arrived and one question on everyone’s lips is who is the actress who plays the role of young Ellie.
This year’s campaign has been used to raise awareness of children in care with the story of a middle-aged man learning to skateboard before welcoming a teenager into the family home.
That teenager is played by 14-year-old rising star Brooke Hart from Lambeth in south London.
Miss Hart holds qualifications from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and has appeared in several stage productions, ad campaigns and some small film roles.
She has appeared in the 2018 film LOVE from the National Theatre, and has also featured in adverts for the NSPCC and the Ford Fiesta.
Getting to star in something as iconic as the John Lewis Christmas ad is a big deal.
The teenager was absolutely gobsmacked when her agent, Mark Jermin of Mark Jermin Management, revealed that she had landed the dream gig in a cute reveal video.
It’s unclear how far in advance Hart found out she had been cast with the retailer telling the Standard that this year’s campaign took nine months to put together.
Mr Jermin can however be heard telling her in the clip that she must keep it to herself and not tell any of her school friends.
With the ad only officially dropping today, it looks like she can add ‘keeping secrets’ to the list of skills on her resumé.
