John Legend admitted he was “worried” about sharing “raw” photographs of his wife Chrissy Teigen after the couple lost their baby son.
The couple both posted a series of images from the hospital on social media after suffering a miscarriage on September 30.
The singer, 43, told the Guardian: “It was raw, sharing our experience. I was worried but our instinct was to do it because people knew we were pregnant and Chrissy felt like she needed to tell the story completely about what happened.
“It was a powerful and brave thing that Chrissy did to share that because it made so many people feel like they were seen and that they weren’t alone.”
Their move was praised for promoting awareness of miscarriage but some people also criticised them for going public.
Legend said the “tragedy” tested their relationship, adding: “But I think it strengthened our resolve and our resilience because we were there for each other.
“We came out even more sure of who we were as a couple and as a family.”
Earlier this month, Teigen sent a message of support to those who struggle with Mother’s Day as she remembered her late son, calling him her “angel baby”.
The model and TV presenter shared photos of her six-year-old daughter Luna and son Miles, three, on Instagram to celebrate the day in the US while honouring her son Jack.
